七宝 Crystal& Precious Stone-based Collections of MAM Jonker88 Group

This cultural collections, as part of our MAM Museum collections, is headed by Jenny Wong, COO of MAM Museum,Jenny is also a Chairman of WHC-Nusantara Cultural Corridor, she is also an international member of UNESCO-ICOM,and national member of ICOMMAL Malaysia ICOM. Jenny is also an international committee member of UNESCO-ICOM-CECA, ICOM-CIMAM, ICOM-CIMUSET, ICOM-ICMAT.

Presently, Justin Yoong ,her partner running his famous Baba Cendol, Jenny is running her home cooked, handy made Nyonya Baba-oriented food heritage at her 100-year old historic building. Jonker 88 ( 88, Jalan Hang Jebat, Melaka ),first of its kind in this region, Museum Café, empowered in an old 50 years old antique shop, be restructured and re-engineered as a hairs looses and hands loose cultural heartland, fully embedded with odl cultural collections, aired with sentimental old songs, all are enriched with sentimental old postcards, paintings, antiques & artifacts found from shipwrecks, tin money from Sg. Melaka & Straits of Malacca’s sea front, and other old collections items, be encysted within its 200 feet long  cultural heartland strategically  located at the 37 hectares Core Zone of Melaka World Heritage City.

寶石是被切割、擦潤、抛光的礦物、石料、土化物體，為收集品、收藏品或穿著裝飾之用。而作为宝石的矿物，一般颜色鲜艳柔和，光泽和花纹美观，结构均匀，折光率强，硬度较大，化学成分稳定。

人类从自古以来就将宝石加工作为饰物。寶石最重要的珍貴之處是其完美的外表，所以被擦傷後喪失價值。

也有些脆弱或軟的寶石只能收集，不能穿著，像許多博物館徵求的菱錳礦。

分类

目前世界上3000多种矿物中，有230种以上可以作为宝石，但应用最广的一般只有20-30种。世界宝石资源主要分布在亚洲南部、非洲南部、美洲、澳洲以及俄罗斯。

商人分寶石為寶石（貴重寶石）和半寶石（次貴重寶石）。

只有五種貴重寶石，1968年法國定義前四種為貴重寶石，餘稱精緻寶石：

• 鑽石
• 藍寶石
• 紅寶石
• 祖母綠
• 金綠玉（亞歷山大變色石）

半寶石數量多，二十多種常見，包括：

瑪瑙 紫水晶 綠柱石（海藍寶石） 黃水晶 石榴石 綠松石 黃玉（黃晶）

橄欖石 蛋白石 尖晶石 坦桑石 虎眼石 鋯石 電氣石 (碧玺)

嚴格上不算做宝石的，即不属于矿物的有机体，但也作为珠宝的还有：

• 琥珀
• 煤玉
• 珍珠
• 珊瑚
• 象牙

在宝石学中，寶石是由以下特徵分類：

• 構造；例如，钻石是完全碳；红宝石是氧化铝。（參見元素）
• 結晶系統：例如，立方晶系、三方晶系、單斜晶系。
• 晶體習性：例如，八面體結晶。

同一種寶石有不同變化，例如：

• 紅寶石和不同顏色的蓝色石都是刚玉變化而来的。
• 金綠玉有金綠玉貓眼石，亞歷山大變色石

此外，在中国传统非常重视玉，通常分为软玉（昆仑山是主要产地）和硬玉（翡翠，主要产于缅甸），所谓“黄金有价玉无价”，但在世界其他地区没有将玉视为宝石。
